Thank you for looking into ALA's free Housing Counseling and Roommate Matching Program...an innovative option for sharing your home, apartment, or condo.

This model program for the aging facilitates matching older people with others (younger and older) interested in sharing their homes so that these seniors may enjoy companionship and a sense of safety, and be able to make ends meet in affordable, safe housing. Home sharing is a great way to help those in need, while enjoying the companionship of a new friend. We have counseled over 28,600 people and facilitated matching over 7,900 individuals.

ALA Housing Counselors take the time to carefully interview each potential roommate and obtain references; the decision to make a match is always up to the two potential roommates.
