Success Stories
Beverly (73) came to ALA when she was looking to retire. For 30 years Beverly worked as a live in nanny and housekeeper. Beverly desperately wanted to have time for herself and "be free". She was seeking an affordable housing situation that would allow her to finally retire. Beverly was also seeking an opportunity that would allow her to socialize and meet other active seniors.
Beverly had just started looking for housing when she found an ad in the paper for ALA. Knowing she would soon be living only off of her Social Security and a modest pension, Beverly had been unable to find affordable housing until she came to ALA.
Beverly moved into Co-op House I, one of ALA’s cooperative communities. She enjoys a private bedroom and bathroom while being able to enjoy the company of others her age by sharing the common areas. Beverly said that she is enjoying her new found "freedom" and "loves" her new home. Beverly gets along well with the other residents and says "everyone is so nice" and welcoming to her. Beverly is very happy to be part of ALA’s cooperative apartment communities- and we are delighted to be able to offer her the freedom and comfort of affordable senior housing.
